PLM/250/3700/B Single Pillar Pallet Elevator

This Pallet Elevator was a single column lift with a Safe Working Load of 250 Kgs and a lift height of 3700mm to the top of the pallet. The lifting platform was big enough to allow a pallet (1200 x 800mm) to be loaded using a hand pallet truck and included a ramp at the ground floor. At the upper level the ingredients were unloaded over a handrail by hand. The Pallet Elevator was manufactured from Grade 304 stainless steel and was designed to be bolted to the floor without the need for a pit. The lifting is accomplished via a motor gearbox mounted at the top of the main column and a ¾” Duplex chain. This Pallet Elevator was fitted with a safety latch which engages automatically in the extremely unlikely event of a lift chain failure.

Pallet Elevator Electrical Control

The pallet Elevator was fitted with an IP65 Stainless Steel Control Panel mounted on the main column at a convenient position to give good maintenance access under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulation 1998 (PUWER). The main control panel at the bottom of the Pallet Elevator incorporates the following controls; Up, Down & Emergency Stop. The push button station at the upper level incorporates the following controls; Up, Down & Emergency Stop.

Upper and Lower end of travel limit switches are positioned to prevent inadvertent adjustment or damage but are easily adjustable by trained personnel for fine adjustment on site. The Pallet Elevator operation is on a ‘hold to run’ dual push button principle so that a pressing the ‘Run’ button and the respective ‘Up’ or ‘Down’ push buttons will raise or lower at both the main control panel and the push button station.

The control was configured such that from the ground level, the Pallet Elevator can be sent to an intermediate limit switch at a height of 2000mm and once it reaches this limit switch control will transfer to the upper push button station. The operator can now control the Pallet Elevator from the upper push button station to allow all product to be unloaded. After unloading, the operator can send the Pallet Elevator back to the intermediate limit switch where control will transfer to the main control panel for the rest of the travel to full down. The operator at the bottom will not be able to drive the Pallet Elevator all the way up and the operator at the top will not be able to drive the Pallet Elevator all the way down.
